My Otherleft

Go ahead, ask me anything. :D

I'm Katelyn. I love Jesus. I'm from Longview, WA. This blog is going to be about anything. It's completely erratic and haphazard. Don't like it? Then go away. No ones making you read this. Either hit that nifty little back button, or go ahead and click on the little x in the top right corner. Myspace, facebook, and live, all use

Or…

topherchris:

This is a radical thought, I know, but bear with me: Some things that are written on the internet aren’t worth directly responding to.

I understand getting worked up over somebody’s utter stupidity, trust me. (Seriously, TRUST ME.) I also think it’s fine to use your outlet of choice to make your opinion on the matter known. My only advice on this plan would be, rather than framing a response to the aforementioned utter stupidity, write your own thing. Make your own case, with your own points, in your own terms, and leave the offender of normal human intelligence out of it.

Putting them in the spotlight merely keeps them, and their ideas, in the spotlight.

(Other people have said this, probably much more articulately than I, but I was feeling it.)

I love this. Not only is it a fully valid point that it keeps them in the spotlight, but I think it also often stoops you down to their level. Instead of being seen as a person with ideas, you’re being seen as someone who is arguing with someone that has ideas (even though their ideas may lack intelligence).
